Spiritual Family and Friends : Narayan Choyin Dorje

Narayan has been a  student and practitioner of several spiritual disciplines, mainly within Tibetan Buddhist lineages, for over twenty-five years. He also has been a free-lance editor and translator for most of his professional life.

He is Paula's husband and the  editor of all of her books, except for Empowerment through Reiki. For Core  Empowerment and The Ultimate Reiki Touch, he served as co-author.

After five semesters of Sanskrit and Tibetan studies at the universities of Hamburg and Marburg, Germany,  he decided that the scholarly approach was not for him and that he  preferred being with living Buddhist masters. He came to India first in 1971 and has visited many times since. From 1977 to 1987, he was deeply involved with Tarthang Tulku's Nyingma community in California, where he studied and translated many books on the subjects of Buddhism, self-help, psychology and complementary health care. At heart a cosmopolitan, he has  also lived in New York City and in Normandy, France.

He and Paula were married in Papaji's presence, in Lucknow, India. It was on this occasion that he  received the name Narayan. After Papaji's death he met Lama Acharya Dawa Chhodak, with whom he later took refuge and  received the name Chöyin Dorje. He prefers to be called by the names his  teachers have given him, as they point to his own deepest aspirations. He  co-teaches the Core Empowerment Training with Paula, and NadiPranaRelease,  a set of simple practices, designed to bring about the direct experience  of the finer energies, which usually remain suppressed and locked away in the frozen patterns of the human body/mind.
